October 16, 2014. Calgary, AB. Okotoks-based Cattle Boyz Foods helps to fill a massive need for food donations with product donations in 2014 totalling close to $60000 (wholesale value) to the Calgary Food Bank.
The average Canadian spends about $50 per week on food (with another $20 eating out). Based on the 2013 Hunger Count survery by Food Banks Canada, about 800,000 Canadians use a food bank every month. Over the course of a year, 1.7 million individuals make an estimated 14 million food bank visits. Given that food banks generally provided about five days’ worth of food to an individual or family, they are likely providing the equivalent to about $1.5 billion worth of food to Canadians. Cattle Boyz is helping make a difference with Calgarians with its donation of its gourmet bbq products to the Calgary Food Bank. To date, in 2014, Cattle Boyz has donated a wholesale value of $59,864.74; the retail value is about double the wholesale value ($119000+)
“We know individuals and families accessing food banks simply cannot afford to spend money on non-essential food items. We wanted to show people we haven’t forgotten about them. That we do care and are doing something to help with hunger relief efforts, especially in our own backyard,” states Joe Ternes, president, Cattle Boyz Foods Ltd.
Cattle Boyz BBQ Sauces are Gluten Free, Fat Free, MSG Free, have Low Sodium, and Low Carbohydrates. And the glass latchtop bottle can be reused for other purposes. They have won over 35+ awards (seven awards in 2014).
